Hello 2013!!!

Happy New Year, everyone!!!! Did you stay up counting down last night? We did!! There was a small event at the university near our home so we went. I didn’t expect much, but it was actually really fun~ There were lots of food stands and games and performance, and even a little fireworks to welcome the new year!!! Even tough it was very cold last night, we had a very good time~

I’ve also completed the Birds of a Feather Mystery Sampler before the year ended!! I used all the material it called for, but used 2 strands of floss instead of one. This was such a fun piece to stitch, and I really enjoyed the process. I love all the little details, even hubby loved it, too~~ I’m still thinking of whether to frame it or make it into a pillow, can’t decide yet….

Timeless

It was a total accident. We did not plan on visiting Tunghai University when we headed out for a wedding, but took a wrong turn on our way home. So hubby said, “Let’s go to Tunghai!!” And there we were, admiring I.M. Pei’s Luce Memorial Chapel. The last time I was here was more then 15 years ago. A lot of things has changed but this Chapel is beautiful as usual. This is truly a timeless piece!!

I’ve finally moved to the red flowers on the Mystery Sampler. This red was what caught my eye when I first see this piece. It is such a pretty color~ It took me a while but I think I can see the end now. I am getting excited!!!

Looks like Sandy has caused a lot of trouble on the east coast. I hope everyone is doing ok. Be safe!!

This and That

Wow!! Really?! It's October already?! Where did the time go?! Work has been crazy, I mean really, it's CRAZY!!! The work environment here is totally different from that in the US. Although it's not mandatory, people here still stay late everyday and even come in during the weekend. I was totally shocked by how long the work hours are. I was so exhausted everyday after work that I could not function at all when I get home, not to mention I still have 30 boxes of stuff that needed me to sort through. Don't get me wrong, I love the job, just not the long work hours. So after two weeks of hard work, I decided to cut back the hours and work part time. I just can not handle the long hours right now.... One good thing about working is I got to walk 20 mins everyday to work, and I enjoy this walk very much. This is a tree on the way that is blooming like crazy~ Like me, it is trying so hard to hold onto the very last bit of summery days!!!

Life here is not all dull, though. A friend of ours told us about a very special place. It is a cafe for rabbit lovers! The owner is a rabbit lover and she wanted a place for rabbit owners to interact with each other, so she opened this cafe, and people would bring their rabbit here to social. Although I do not own a rabbit, it was so much fun to see all these furry little things running and hopping around while we enjoy our drinks. That was an unforgettable experience!! I would definitely come back again!!!

Although I was too exhausted to stitch during the time when I worked full time, I have been trying to catch up on my Mystery Sampler these past few days. One stitch at a time goes a long way, and I'm loving the process!! Hopefully I will be able to finish the main part and start working on the border by the end of this week~

Stitching Update

Can you believe it’s September already? Seasons is a strange thing. One day it was still hot like summer, once we enter September, you can feel the temperature at night dropping, and fall is in the air. It’s actually a nice relief to me, as I’m still trying to get use to the hot and humid island weather~ This is a dried up rice field I passed the other day, just thought the pattern is pretty cool!!

Nothing much to repost, still waiting on our shipment from the US, still working on the Mystery Sampler… I wasn’t sure about the flower color before, but it has grown on me after stitching it.

I just noticed today that my bolgoversary has came and gone!!!! It has been four years since I started this blog and now entering the fifth year!!!! I want to thank you all for visiting my little corner~ Your support and comments have meant a lot to me!! Hope to see you around for another five years~ Happy stitching!!

Setteling Down

It has been about 2 weeks since we moved in. Since most of our stuff from the US is Still on the Pacific Ocean somewhere, we have been treasure hunting from both our parents homes for everyday necessities. In fact, I think my mom was the happiest person when she knew we were moving back, not only because I will be closer to her, but I could take over a lot of her things.... My dad said she has been happily setting up a pile way before we arrived home. And here she was caught in action digging through her treasures....

All silliness aside, I am very grateful for our parents letting us taking over their things. They even lend us some old furnitures so we can setup our apartment so quickly~ We finally have a home base and do not have to live out of a suitcase anymore. That itself was a huge relief~

One downside of moving is the limited time I have to stitch. After a long day of cleaning, hulling, and shopping, I have very little energy left in the evening... So here is my pitiful progress on my Mystery Sampler... I hope things will quiet down soon so I will have more time to stitch!!

 

Checking In

Hello my darling friends, thank you for all your good wishes on our move. We have arrived safely in Taiwan, and still heavily jet lagged... The past few days were a haze. Hubby and I traveled back and forth between both our parents' places and his work place, and I spent a lot of time waiting for him while he was checking in work. Since I spend so much time waiting, I suddenly have a lot of time to stitch~ One day I spent a whole afternoon in the library hiding away from the hot and humid weather outside, watching movie from my iPad and stitch. That was a great break from our busy schedule. I will be on the train in a little bit and guess what I will be doing? Stitching, of course~
