Dragonflies always remind me of summer, which makes this a perfect summer project. I'm glad I finished it just before summer ends~ </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lQkuGVI7MH0/X0ZilEPm3xI/AAAAAAAAbtc/X55sMsD4XEssQrTH7k1-Mb5kzuQe6MH-ACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9205.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1988" height="453" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lQkuGVI7MH0/X0ZilEPm3xI/AAAAAAAAbtc/X55sMsD4XEssQrTH7k1-Mb5kzuQe6MH-ACLcBGAsYHQ/w621-h640/IMG_9205.JPG" width="440" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: consolas; font-size: 15.4px;"><em style="font-size: 15.4px;">Pattern: </em><span style="font-family: consolas;"><span><i>Olympus Sashiko patterns</i></span></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><em style="font-family: consolas; font-size: 15.4px;">Thread: </em><i style="font-family: consolas; font-size: 15.4px;">Olympus Sashiko</i><em><span style="font-family: Consolas;"><span> variegated </span></span></em><em style="font-family: consolas; font-size: 15.4px;">cotton floss</em><em style="font-family: consolas; font-size: 15.4px;"> </em></div><div style="clear: both; font-family: consolas; font-size: 15.4px;"><em><span>Fabric: Natural Linen </span><br /><span>Size: 12" x 12" </span><br /><span>Beginning Date: 06-15-2020 </span><br /><span>Completion Date: 08-24-2020</span></em></div></div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I used a variegated thread on this pattern, and I love how it turned out~ It just give this pattern a bit more playful feeling, bringing it alive.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4lu9Lim3FDQ/X0ZilXxoJ_I/AAAAAAAAbtg/1q_kQ8BEQwgmo2lZbHi5BALhjWGQjR8NQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9208.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="330" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4lu9Lim3FDQ/X0ZilXxoJ_I/AAAAAAAAbtg/1q_kQ8BEQwgmo2lZbHi5BALhjWGQjR8NQCLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/IMG_9208.JPG" width="440" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">Since I have a little break from work, I finally can start on my airplane quilt for my nephew. A few weeks ago, I saw this material pack online and fell in love with its beautiful design!! I immediately signed up for the class to make this clasp purse. This is my first time trying to make one. You would think such a tiny thing would be a easy project, but oh boy!!! There are so many details involved!!! I'm so glad I signed up for the class instead of trying to make it at home by myself. It would have been a disaster!!! With a little bit help from my instructor, here is my tiny butterfly purse~ Can you tell the butterfly is actually 3-dimensional?</div>
<br />

I have to say I struggled a little bit when putting it together, and it was not as perfect as the one my instructor made, but I still think it is very lovely~ Would I try to make another clasp purse? Um... Maybe not anytime soon.... Or until something catches my eye again!!! ;-)</div>

I have been trying out stitching Sashiko patterns recently, starting from the most traditional, easiest patterns to the more temporary, more complicated ones. They came in kits which are pretty handy!! Great for beginners!!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0XL2uh7B_gc/XuYjiMFEGYI/AAAAAAAAbpc/dXOeNdGZbVE47v9l9xysI7yj3MKgAZsmwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/kit.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="330" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0XL2uh7B_gc/XuYjiMFEGYI/AAAAAAAAbpc/dXOeNdGZbVE47v9l9xysI7yj3MKgAZsmwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/kit.jpg" width="440" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
These patterns seems pretty simple, but actually it was quite difficult to make them perfect. Especially the one at the upper right corner, it was a big challenge to make the crosses and squares line up perfectly. But in the end, if not looking too closely, they are not so bad~</div>

Hello my crafty friends, I hope everyone is doing well in these difficult times. This pandemic all over the world has really affected our daily lives, and I truly hope it will be over soon. Although this coronavirus has just been hitting hard in Europe and America, we have been facing it since late January in Asia. Being so close to China, we have been prepared and fighting to keep this disease from spreading in Taiwan. I have to say our government is doing a pretty good job. We have kept a very low rate of infected people in Taiwan for almost two months. Even now with the numbers growing more rapidly because of the worldwide spread, almost 80% of the cases are travelers who are coming back home. We still go about our daily lives, just with more cautious. Seeing all the chaos in the world, I am really grateful I am in Taiwan right now. Very proud of our country!!!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WmyR3r53VfQ/Xnr21hr1ygI/AAAAAAAAbjQ/ggR1mVceW_4rvnmXSsQ5O7A-Woto_qTaACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_7738.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="330" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WmyR3r53VfQ/Xnr21hr1ygI/AAAAAAAAbjQ/ggR1mVceW_4rvnmXSsQ5O7A-Woto_qTaACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_7738.jpg" width="440" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Because of the disease, masks are very precious right now. Thanks for the quick response of our government, we are still able to get 3 surgical masks every week. To protect myself and others, many people like me use masks when in public transportation and confide small spaces (like the elevator). So to extend the use life of the mask, face mask cloth pockets become very popular here. Just wash the cloth pockets everyday and you can reuse the surgical mask 2 to 3 times. Plus, these colorful cloth pockets looks way prettier and happier than the surgical masks, won't you say?!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

Theresahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04725169011039558687noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8971159994489119946.post-34392171024790950942019-11-12T08:50:00.002-06:002020-02-08T23:33:41.448-06:00September Block and a Little More~<div style="text-align: justify;">
It took me a while, but another block finished!!! I really like these owls!!! I think they are pretty cool~ Three more blocks to go!!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EwBPG_P_0NA/XcrB-7e1eCI/AAAAAAAAbSY/1Wpske7turE8ArOMoX3FRkpGyOt9RftGQCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_E5614.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="330" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EwBPG_P_0NA/XcrB-7e1eCI/AAAAAAAAbSY/1Wpske7turE8ArOMoX3FRkpGyOt9RftGQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_E5614.JPG" width="440" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I also made this baby quilt for a friend of mine~ I used this<a href="https://www.diaryofaquilter.com/2015/10/self-binding-baby-blanket-tutorial.html" target="_blank"> self binding baby blanket tutorial</a> for this one. It was such a quick and easy fun project.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ig7zVR8pBmQ/XcrBwEfcFXI/AAAAAAAAbSM/AGwdNjfK3mAp2Nc0sp0S0J0uN5KcEL0SQCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_5709.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="587" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ig7zVR8pBmQ/XcrBwEfcFXI/AAAAAAAAbSM/AGwdNjfK3mAp2Nc0sp0S0J0uN5KcEL0SQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_5709.JPG" width="440" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This quilt is made for my first niece. Some of the fabrics used were bought 7 years ago before she was born! But between my big move back to Taiwan and work, this project kept been pushed back. And then suddenly the little baby is entering elementary school!!! I thought to myself better get it started or the next time when I realized she is off to college!!! It still took me almost 2 years to complete it, but at last it is done~</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0gjh0c2PCl4/XSit2_YYG1I/AAAAAAAAbFA/3IViUg7OqssqGdHR1Bz0XUii49lKa0ifgCPcBGAYYCw/s1600/IMG_E3477.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="600" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0gjh0c2PCl4/XSit2_YYG1I/AAAAAAAAbFA/3IViUg7OqssqGdHR1Bz0XUii49lKa0ifgCPcBGAYYCw/s640/IMG_E3477.JPG" width="450" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: justify;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: justify;">When I started out buying fabrics for this quilt 7 years ago, I had in mind a baby quilt. But since my niece is a little girl now I wanted to make this quilt larger, so I added on wide borders on each side. Coincidentally, the blocks I made for this quilt is just the right sizes for the corners, and there is just enough leftover pieces to make for blocks, so I guess it is just meant to be.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TWylADj-64c/XSit6gKZJyI/AAAAAAAAbFI/zBx-NBd5_6oWvhNZzQVVDQxQ_E1I9d0_wCPcBGAYYCw/s1600/IMG_E3483.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="600" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TWylADj-64c/XSit6gKZJyI/AAAAAAAAbFI/zBx-NBd5_6oWvhNZzQVVDQxQ_E1I9d0_wCPcBGAYYCw/s640/IMG_E3483.JPG" width="450" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have to admit when I first finished the center piecing I was a little bit concerned because there seems to bit too much going on and the colors seems a bit muddled. So when I went shopping for the border fabrics, I got a little help from my quilt instructor Sophia and I love how it turned out. The narrow pink border defined the center piece and the white border calm the whole piece down. How amazing what borders can do!!!! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZDRw1mF-0aM/XSiuHEqIEAI/AAAAAAAAbFQ/k5fP2P3NjvYBHwdEwgdRrD45k67OOE46wCPcBGAYYCw/s1600/IMG_E3480.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="600" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZDRw1mF-0aM/XSiuHEqIEAI/AAAAAAAAbFQ/k5fP2P3NjvYBHwdEwgdRrD45k67OOE46wCPcBGAYYCw/s640/IMG_E3480.JPG" width="450" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I also learned how to machine quilt on this project. Although it is just straight lines, using a curved pattern makes it more interesting. As much as I like hand quilting, this really saved me a lot of time, allowing me to finish it before work starts to kick in again. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I was very lucky to find this beautiful backing fabric as well. It almost can be a show piece itself.<br />
<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
So this is what I have been working on these past few weeks!!! This quilt may not be what I have anticipated in the beginning, but it sure gave me many unexpected surprises along the way. I hope my niece will like it, too.</div>

This Joyful World series is truly joyful!! April is no exception. I couldn't stop stitching it once I started!! Although it is still cold out, this spring scene put a smile on my face~ </div>

<span style="text-align: justify;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: justify;">Since I plan on using this as a blanket, I am thinking adding on a wider border to make it larger. I know I want a red border, but am also exploring more options! I think a trip to the fabric shop is in order!! </span></div>

Back again so soon?! Yes, with a small finish, too~ February of Joyful World is done! Love the blue flowers!!! I so admire the effort Snowflower Diaries has put in when designing these imagines. The animals are so vivid! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here are January and February together!! These animals are too cute!! I enjoyed stitching them very much!!</div>

We do not have ducks in our community, but this bird just moved in. This one is still a youngster, we often can see it walking around our neighborhood. I think I just disturbed its nap when taking this photo. It does not look too happy....</div>

Thank you again for visiting~Theresahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04725169011039558687noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8971159994489119946.post-41474007928663633862018-10-03T08:37:00.000-05:002018-10-03T08:39:58.469-05:00Back with More!!<div style="text-align: justify;">
Since I have my sewing machine out, I have made a lot of progress on my quilt this past week. I have finished piecing all the individual blocks!! Yay~ I find that it is kind of difficult to make the center point meet perfectly. I had to redo some of the blocks cause they were wayyyy off. Any tips on how to make perfect centers??</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wbFEnwvmTV0/W7TBBcB1XwI/AAAAAAAAayY/tkJPaaIQto0xSHIi4GgH-nmJGzLmGH5YwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_8863.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="851" data-original-width="1600" height="234" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wbFEnwvmTV0/W7TBBcB1XwI/AAAAAAAAayY/tkJPaaIQto0xSHIi4GgH-nmJGzLmGH5YwCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_8863.jpg" width="440" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I laid out all the blocks to have a peek on how it will look in the end. It does kind of feel like looking through a kaleidoscope, doesn't it?</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Sadly I will have to put this aside for this moment. Big work due date ahead meaning no time to quilt, plus I have to give my dining table back for dinning~ Hopefully I will be able to get back on this soon. Thanks for visiting~~</div>

<br />
Still have another pile of pieces to work on, but I am happy to see some progress on this quilt. Maybe I can have it done by Christmas? Wishful thinking~Theresahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04725169011039558687noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8971159994489119946.post-23354615842308567152018-08-20T10:52:00.002-05:002018-08-20T10:55:30.471-05:00Yes! I am still here!!!<div style="text-align: justify;">
Can't believe it was March since I last post!!!! I do have a little achievement, finally after one year since I started, January of the Joyful World SAL is finished!! It was this cute little thing that drew me to this design, and I am glad to see it come to life on my linen~</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oulIXfsDDTc/W3rg-p_hVmI/AAAAAAAAaiI/zXFTo1M9i3gBvSsWkVt3x41OcKMs46OygCLcBGAs/s1600/2018-08-20%2B09.57.45.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1215" data-original-width="1600" height="332" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oulIXfsDDTc/W3rg-p_hVmI/AAAAAAAAaiI/zXFTo1M9i3gBvSsWkVt3x41OcKMs46OygCLcBGAs/s640/2018-08-20%2B09.57.45.jpg" width="440" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Because I wasn't sure if my linen was large enough, I have actually started out by stitching all the border first. It was a dull process, I am glad that part was over!! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-48NvWyDtMAA/W3rib_OjM6I/AAAAAAAAaiU/sHmGFuwwqf4i2vRiFCn3-IT8iHtPjp8YQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_E7826.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="330" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-48NvWyDtMAA/W3rib_OjM6I/AAAAAAAAaiU/sHmGFuwwqf4i2vRiFCn3-IT8iHtPjp8YQCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_E7826.JPG" width="440" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have modified the border a little bit to fit it on to my linen, I'm quite happy with the effect~</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YX5ZkWH4qFI/W3riv0goKiI/AAAAAAAAaic/hkYQxjzHMTELEdvqcYbNbsynH_a_WgfGACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_E7827.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="330" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YX5ZkWH4qFI/W3riv0goKiI/AAAAAAAAaic/hkYQxjzHMTELEdvqcYbNbsynH_a_WgfGACLcBGAs/s640/IMG_E7827.JPG" width="440" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I hope the fun little animals will be able to keep me going!!! Until next time~</div>

Hello my friends,it has been a while since my last post. Sorry for the long absence. I am still here, just got caught up with work and holidays and not a lot of progress on my projects. I finally got my sewing machine out again and made some progress on my quilt, and then there is the dilemma. I can't quite decide which pattern to go with. What do you think? Should I go with A:<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6Q_QSnwunOU/Wq_FjKrGU3I/AAAAAAAAZ94/nlR0BwdjNrs538eqkKlza3v2KNC7OyckACEwYBhgL/s1600/WeChat%2B%25E5%259C%2596%25E7%2589%2587_20180319215346.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="440" data-original-width="440" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6Q_QSnwunOU/Wq_FjKrGU3I/AAAAAAAAZ94/nlR0BwdjNrs538eqkKlza3v2KNC7OyckACEwYBhgL/s640/WeChat%2B%25E5%259C%2596%25E7%2589%2587_20180319215346.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Or B?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DyCrI2wZnVw/Wq_FiynI98I/AAAAAAAAZ90/T_1Arrl1EboytsmTV9JvWRKEiNoucXfcQCEwYBhgL/s1600/WeChat%2B%25E5%259C%2596%25E7%2589%2587_20180319215338.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="880" data-original-width="440" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DyCrI2wZnVw/Wq_FiynI98I/AAAAAAAAZ90/T_1Arrl1EboytsmTV9JvWRKEiNoucXfcQCEwYBhgL/s640/WeChat%2B%25E5%259C%2596%25E7%2589%2587_20180319215338.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;">Decisions, decisions.....</span></div>
Theresahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04725169011039558687noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8971159994489119946.post-25579205920755749792017-09-03T00:02:00.000-05:002018-03-19T09:08:00.427-05:00And then it is September....<div style="text-align: justify;">
I'm back!! Sorry for disappearing for so long, it has been a busy summer. I haven't been doing much stitching these past few month, but finally picked up my needle again last week and started Joyful World by the Snowflower Diaries. I knew I had to stitch this when I first saw all these adorable animals, but was debating about the finish size. Finally I picked up my courage to do it over one! I hope I will have the momentum to finish it!!!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8rjrhXEzHx8/WauHZZUdxtI/AAAAAAAAZ4M/cppaUI-PVekfr7GPhtKWQe50rpBoFwR4wCLcBGAs/s1600/2017-08-31%2B11.30.21.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="330" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8rjrhXEzHx8/WauHZZUdxtI/AAAAAAAAZ4M/cppaUI-PVekfr7GPhtKWQe50rpBoFwR4wCLcBGAs/s640/2017-08-31%2B11.30.21.jpg" width="440" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've also started a new quilt. My goal is to do at least one quilt per year, and I am already at a late start!! I have made all the cuts, now on to piecing them together!! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kJ84kp5Y9gc/WauMMj8MCwI/AAAAAAAAZ7I/LxJaJ3-54E0G4Ir9ri5piljn3y_FMc-BQCLcBGAs/s1600/2017-08-31%2B11.27.52.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="330" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kJ84kp5Y9gc/WauMMj8MCwI/AAAAAAAAZ7I/LxJaJ3-54E0G4Ir9ri5piljn3y_FMc-BQCLcBGAs/s640/2017-08-31%2B11.27.52.jpg" width="440" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Thank you for visiting, see you soon!! (I hope!!!!)</div>
Theresahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04725169011039558687noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8971159994489119946.post-74649753079488338232017-06-08T22:58:00.001-05:002017-06-08T22:58:50.063-05:00A Cheerful Finish!!!<div style="text-align: justify;">
To tell you the truth, when I first pulled these colors together, I had my doubts. The original silk threads look more subtle. Will this be too bright? </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9BTuXck5ibQ/V_5DDGFUe5I/AAAAAAAAZlk/R1kXZde5l9cTfAbRhXdeiMbguyPNrSnWQCPcB/s1600/2016-10-03%2B12.05.58.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1196" data-original-width="1600" height="330" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9BTuXck5ibQ/V_5DDGFUe5I/AAAAAAAAZlk/R1kXZde5l9cTfAbRhXdeiMbguyPNrSnWQCPcB/s640/2016-10-03%2B12.05.58.jpg" width="440" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As it turns out, it's perfect! This unusual color combination is so bright and cheerful. I really like the look! Maybe it is the bright orange and blue, somehow it gives out a southwestern feel~</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qmDt6QPcZH8/WTlhFCBkW1I/AAAAAAAAZ3M/WLWa_FDbxz0No7kOKHnr2voJXbT_oXJiQCLcB/s1600/2017-06-08%2B16.22.04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="330" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qmDt6QPcZH8/WTlhFCBkW1I/AAAAAAAAZ3M/WLWa_FDbxz0No7kOKHnr2voJXbT_oXJiQCLcB/s640/2017-06-08%2B16.22.04.jpg" width="440" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em style="font-size: 15.4px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Pattern: Blackbird Designs “Birds of a Feather” </span></em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em style="font-size: 15.4px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Thread: DMC Cotton Thread<br />Fabric: 32ct Belfest Linen in color Country Mocha<br />Stitched Size: 10.5” x 12”<br />Completion Date: 06-07-2017</span></em></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I stitched 2 over 2 in stead of 1 over 2 as indicated on the instructions, cause I like the plump look of stitches. I also love the different flowers on the border, they are so cute!!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FJeb51ZpBjI/WTlhc9WSNiI/AAAAAAAAZ3U/8Ap823o44q49GuAcemOEJboBmMS-dVRAwCLcB/s1600/2017-06-07%2B11.13.02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="587" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FJeb51ZpBjI/WTlhc9WSNiI/AAAAAAAAZ3U/8Ap823o44q49GuAcemOEJboBmMS-dVRAwCLcB/s640/2017-06-07%2B11.13.02.jpg" width="440" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The chain stitch around one of the flowers is also an unexpected touch. I kept it as the last thing to do and almost forgot about it!! Caught it at the very last moment, and I'm glad that I did~ </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vdxfictI9_o/WTlhOov23eI/AAAAAAAAZ3Q/ta-5hPxGZL08wC1oOH_L-N3t8qpfr-dCQCLcB/s1600/2017-06-07%2B11.12.50.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="587" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vdxfictI9_o/WTlhOov23eI/AAAAAAAAZ3Q/ta-5hPxGZL08wC1oOH_L-N3t8qpfr-dCQCLcB/s640/2017-06-07%2B11.12.50.jpg" width="440" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Moving on to the next project!! What should I do? I think there is a quilt awaiting~ Thanks for visiting~</div>

Remember I talked about participating in a quilt for a charity event? Well, the event took place a couple weeks ago and I went to see how the finial piece turned out. I was so amazed by the final product, everyone's rose is so different and yet they look perfectly together~ Here is the quilt that I participated in, did you spot mine?</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-s0X_QjDW39s/WRqMzb4gvCI/AAAAAAAAZ14/U0whVJbd8IsiK9yBTcWPQIVq7HyQulaGQCLcB/s1600/2017-05-07%2B15.25.52.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="587" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-s0X_QjDW39s/WRqMzb4gvCI/AAAAAAAAZ14/U0whVJbd8IsiK9yBTcWPQIVq7HyQulaGQCLcB/s640/2017-05-07%2B15.25.52.jpg" width="440" /></a></div>
<br />
It is at the bottom row~~<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--zEdcpRbZYw/WRqM-ZlIHdI/AAAAAAAAZ2E/hTcT1UvdQAw7unKL4z1DnvidpQimBjKaACEw/s1600/2017-05-07%2B15.26.07.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="330" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--zEdcpRbZYw/WRqM-ZlIHdI/AAAAAAAAZ2E/hTcT1UvdQAw7unKL4z1DnvidpQimBjKaACEw/s640/2017-05-07%2B15.26.07.jpg" width="440" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This event is for supporting young mothers, hence the figures on top of the quilt. Twenty-four quilters participated in this event making the different quilt blocks, then each block was put together by some of the young mothers, making these quilts even more meaningful. At the end two quilts were made, and together, they raised over $1500 USD!! I am so glad I got to be a part of this, and I would do it again in a heartbeat~ </div>

I have been busy - stitching and quilting this time!!! When the quilting studio I go to called for doing a quilt for a charity event, I signed up right away! After seeing the pattern, I thought, I could do this. It looks very similar to the sewing machine cover I did last year. Then I read the instructions......It requires paper foundation piecing...... Um... ok, I have never done it before. So I turned to the place where people goes for help - Google!! Thanks for YouTube, I learned how to paper piecing, and it is so much fun~~~</span><br />

Work has been occupying most of my time these days, I've actually just came back from a business trip to China. Therefore, not too many progress on my stitching, this is where I am at right now.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UOp2IVsa17I/WMgAmGw2S1I/AAAAAAAAZ0Q/BnGfL_240dI-WAxwpu7KB-nCBRYZqfYPwCLcB/s1600/FullSizeRender.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="489" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UOp2IVsa17I/WMgAmGw2S1I/AAAAAAAAZ0Q/BnGfL_240dI-WAxwpu7KB-nCBRYZqfYPwCLcB/s640/FullSizeRender.jpg" width="440" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
While I was in China, I've also made some time to go sight seeing, visiting a very cute shop that I have my eyes on for a while - <a href="http://www.brutcake.com/en/" target="_blank">Brut Cake</a>! This artist uses Chinese old fabrics to creat most of her works! Besides the regular bags and accessories, she also makes the cutest <a href="http://www.brutcake.com/en/works/furniture/" target="_blank">furniture</a>! I saw one of her sofas in an exhibit once, and that's when I fell in love!<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Y0oIVGTUYgI/WMf-TSLfWNI/AAAAAAAAZ0E/43CASrYyo5k/IMG_2061.jpg?imgmax=9999" style="max-width: 100%;" width="440" /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br />
Coincidentally, while I was visiting a traditional town, I saw a shop showing how these old fabrics are made! There were even some quilts that were made with theses fabrics. Familiar patterns, but totally different feel~<br />
<br /></div>

Seems like spring is teasing us these days, giving us a glimpse of good weather, then suddenly turning cold and rainy again... But I can see from the new buds on my plants, that spring is not far away! Hang in there, people! Until next time~Theresahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04725169011039558687noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8971159994489119946.post-21733740751874894052017-01-27T20:51:00.002-06:002017-02-10T02:24:23.397-06:00Testing a New App....<div dir="auto">
Hello everyone! Hope you are all doing well in this winter morning! Today is Chinese New Year Day, first of all, as custom, may you all have a wonderful year of rooster!!!<br />
<br /></div>
<div dir="auto">
As I relay more and more on my smart phone, I wanted to find a good blog editing app so I can blog on the go. After a little bit of searching, I decided to give this Blogo app a try. So far it seems easy enough to use, but I would like to hear from you if anyone have any recommendations or tips on this app. Any info is appreciated!<br />

On the stitching front, here is my progress on Birds of a Feather. I am loving every minute of it!<br />
