Floss Ring Tag Exchange and Wisteria House Update

Nicole has informed me that the floss ring tag I made for her for the Tiny Treasures Exchange has safely made its way to her mailbox~~ I’m glad to hear that she liked what I’ve made for her~

Pattern: Windy Willows “ Early Summer
Thread: DMC cotton floss
Fabric: 32ct Belfast Linen in Bluish Gray Color
Size: 2.5" x 2"
Finishing Date: 06-03-2009

I’ve always wanted to stitch Windy Willows designs and thought this would be an appropriate time since this design is called “Early Summer”~~ I had a little trouble when I got to the whipstitch again, I don’t know if it’s because I pulled the backstitches too tight so it was a bit more difficult to do the whipstitch…… But I think the end result doesn’t look too bad~

As for my little Wisteria House, I finally finished all the stitching!!! I love how it looks already~ Now if I can just put it all together without ruining it…… We’ll see how that goes~

Fun Little Roberta's Cats

I finished this little tag last week. It's a free chart from Cross Stitch Happy~ There are also designs of puppy, rabbit and flower in this series, so if you haven't visit Cross Stitch Happy before, you are missing out!!

I fell in love with the cute design and beautiful colors of this chart the moment I saw it, and I knew I had to stitch this piece. I thought the idea of the yarn is just so clever!! I really had a lot of fun stitching it~

Pattern: Cross Stitch Happy "Roberta's Cats"
Thread: DMC cotton floss
Fabric: 18ct oatmeal aida by Regency Mills
Size: 1.75" x 1.75"
Completion Date: 11-07-2008
Finishing Date: 11-07-2008

I had to change out the blue in the original design, because I didn't have the color called for in my stash. But I like how it turned out~ I made this for my friend Year; she loves cats so I know she will love this design~

Everything went smoothly when I was stitching this piece until I started to whipstitch..... I never though I would have a hard time whipstitching but I did... Note to self - NEVER use this aida fabric again if I plan on whipstitch it..... It took me like 2 or 3 hours just to whipstitch it close, and I almost lost my patience!!!! Luckily most parts turned out ok, but my fingers were very sore......

I also worked on Heart and Hand a little bit more, and managed to get part of the border done. It's slowly but surely making progress.....

Thanks for all your kind comments in my pervious entries. I'm sending all my lucky power over your way, so we can all share the luck together~~ Enjoy the rest of the weekend!!

A Little Tag for a Dear Friend~

This was a nice little project to do~~ I really like making tags, cause it's quick and easy. I always have trouble with the corners, though. It is so difficult to keep the corners tight and neat....

I found this pattern from Nina's blog, it is a very simple but elegant design. I really like the color combination, it's so soft and pretty. I think I will use this combination again somewhere in the future~~

The Finial Stretch

My hubby Sam just passed his doctoral defense and now I can call him Dr. Sam~~ I'm so proud of him!! Getting a doctoral degree is really not an easy task, and I always admired him for all the hard work he put in his work and his dedication to his research. To cheer him up on the final week of his preparation, I made this little tag especially for him. I used one over one on this design, and I love how it turned out~

I actually stitched this tag while I was watching the Olympic games, and I was obsessed with it. Of course I watched swimming, and I LOVE Michael Phelps!!!! (Sorry Sam, but he has GREAT abs!!!!) Beside all the games aired on TV, I also watched some games on the web to keep track on the games Taiwan played in. Sam really thought I was crazy.....

I must say cross stitching really is therapeutic. I was very upset when Taiwan lost an important baseball game, to the point that I couldn't sleep that night. I picked up my needle and thread and start stitching. After a while I felt calm and peaceful, and the lost didn't seem to bother me anymore. What wonder a little stitching can do!!!
