Blooms~

As promised, another project finished. This time it is my sewing machine cover!! I've always wanted to make one for my sewing machine to protect it from all the dust, I use to just cover it with a random piece of cloth, now it can sit pretty on my desk with its new cover~

Pattern: Designed by Sophia Yu
Size: 16" W x 13"H  x 7D"
Beginning Date: 05-21-2015
Completion Date: 09-28-2016

Something new I learned from this project - crazy quilting! It was super fun, I can go on and on on assembling the pieces together. The final result is the front part of the sewing machine cover, which doubles as a pocket for all my rulers and scissors and stuff for easy access!!

Because there is so many steps to finish this project, it really takes a lot of stamina to see it through. I think that is why it always take me so long to finish a project, I kind of loses steam halfway through, and it will sit in my drawer for quite some time until I dig it out again. It is always the last 20% that takes me the longest to finish, but I am glad I finally did.

So here you have it! Crossing off another project on my way too long to do list!! Now what should I work on next?

Autumn...

Long time no see, my daring friends, summer has been very busy for me, and when I look up, fall has sneaked in!!! It took me a while, but I finally finished the applique of my Hawaiian quilt~~ It has been a struggle, I had to take apart some portions of it cause I just didn't like how it looks, still not 100% satisfied with it, but I am going to set it aside for now, and come back to it with a fresh eye later.

And then there is my crazy quilt sewing machine cover. I am working on hand quilting it right now. It is quite a challenge to hand quilt through so many layers, but with the help of a pair of trusty pliers, it is coming along just fine.

Some other things I did during summer, a little gardening fun~ While I was eating dragon fruit one day, I looked at those millions of little seeds and just thought it might be fun to germinate them so I did, and to my amazement, they really did germinate!!! Their little leaves are so fresh and cute, and with time they start showing their cactus characters~

And then I thought, a little bit dressing up is needed!!! So a few leftover fabrics and cute mushrooms later, this is what I ended up with~~ Aren't they just adorable?! I will have to make more of these, they make perfect gifts, won't you say?

Speaking of fall weathers, in sub-tropical Taiwan, it means it's time for blooms again!! Because our summer is too hot for flowers to survive, winter is the best time for them to thrive. Now that the weather is cooling down again, I filled my balcony with lavenders and daisy. It is such a joy to see them greeting me every morning, while I enjoy my breakfast on the balcony~~

So that is my story lately. What have you been busying? By the way, if you haven't already noticed, Nancy over at Victorian Motto Sampler Shoppe has been hosting some awesome giveaways, be sure to join the fun if you haven't already!!!

Work in Progress...

Hello my dear friends, summer has arrived and it is soooo hot and humid here lately!!!! I'm sweating like non-stop and ice-cream is my new best friend right now!!!! The upside of this hot weather is that it is making the Golden Shower Tree is blooming like crazy, and it sure is a beautiful sight!

Nevertheless, the hot weather did not stop me from keeping busy with projects. I have been working on several projects right now, and one is a cover for my sewing machine to keep all the dust out when I am not using it.

When I told my quilting mentor Sophia that I would like to make a sewing machine cover, I thought it would just be putting together three pieces and it would be simple and quick!! But being the creative  Sophia as she is, of course she designed something that is super awesome and that I could learn new techniques from!!

So we are using the concept of a crazy quilt to make this cover!! I have to say this is super fun, starting from choosing the colors right down to sewing them piece by piece together!!! Right now I am done with the piecing part of the project, and have to hand quilt it before assembling them together~

Doesn't this bloom resembles the roses that were on my balcony?! The real ones were gone already, but this beauty will be blooming always on my sewing machine cover~ I love it already and can't wait for it to be finished!!

Have a wonderful weekend!!!!
