I’m Late!! I’m Late!!

Seriously, January is half gone already and I haven’t have one post yet, what is wrong with this picture?! Well, work got in the way so I didn’t have much time to do anything else, but now that I’m done with the project, I hope I will be able to get back to my stitching again.

I’ve kept “The Angels Sang” out during my move and had been working on it whenever I got a moment. I meant to finish it before Christmas, but it just didn’t happen… I’m so late!! But it’s ok, this is such a beautiful design that I think it will look really nice on my shelf all year long no matter what~ So here it is, my first finish of 2010!!

Pattern: Little House Needleworks “The Angels Sang”
Thread: Crescent Colors & DMC cotton floss
Fabric: 40ct Lakeside Linen in Bittersweet
Size: 3.5” x 5.5”
Completion Date: 01-16-2010

I love the pinkish color of the fabric!! This fabric was actually an accident purchase. I was looking for a grayish fabric online and in the photo this one looked gray, but when it arrived, it was not what I expected at all!!! Nevertheless, it is a beautiful color, and I think it suits this design very well~ (Sorry about the gloomy photos… The weather is not cooperating today.)

A friend of mine asked me to make some pillow cases for her couch, so that was what I was doing yesterday afternoon. This is my first time trying to sew a zipper on a pillow case, and I think it turned out pretty nicely. We picked out this corduroy fabric together. Isn’t it a lovely pattern? I love it so much that I think I will make some for myself as well~

I still have so many WIPs that needed to be finished!!!! So before I’m done with them, no more new projects for me!! (Yeah right, we’ll see how long that lasts…) Have a wonderful week and happy stitching~

Pillowcases

I was inspired by Staci’s pillowcases a while back and decided to give them a try~~ I picked a simple design cause I’ve never done this before, and although the original colors are beautiful, I used all red threads instead because I think they look so pretty on Staci’s works~ Plus I wanted to maybe make this a wedding gift, and red is the color for weddings in Chinese culture, so I thought it would be a good fit~

Pattern: Bucilla Passion Flowers Pillowcase
Thread: DMC cotton floss
Completion Date: 03-15-2009

I think they turned out ok expect of my satin stitch!!!! The leaves are more forgiving but It is so difficult to stitch a perfect circle!!!! Mine looked more like lemons…… LOL I’ll need more practice for sure~~ This little design is so cute and so fun to do, I might keep this pair for myself and make another pair for my friend~

I’m feeling a bit heavy headed today, I hope I didn’t catch the cold that is floating around…… I’m going to make myself a nice pot of tea and do a bit of stitching~ Maybe that will help fight off this cold~

What I've been up to.....

So what have I been doing since I've finished Heart and Hand? I've been stitching, really!!

First I've worked on the Winter Fobs and finished stitching these two little pieces~~ I just love the little snowman!! Don't you think he is cute?

Pattern: Heart in Hand "Winter Fobs - Snowman & Little Blue House Fob"
Thread: DMC cotton floss & Sampler floss
Fabric: 32ct Belgium linen
Size: 3" x 1.5" & 1.5" x 1.25"
Completion Date: 02-11-2009

Then I've continued stitching the needle roll piece of this set and I was on a roll until I hit one of the borders...... It required closed herringbone stitch and I wasn't quite sure I'm doing it right.....

After going half way through, ripping it out, and trying once again, I finally decided to just put it aside for a moment and switch to stitching my biscornu piece for the Tiny Treasures Exchange group. This is my very first try on a biscornu and I want to make sure I could finish on time to mail it out. It is going well so far, I just need to finish it up!! I can't share a photo just yet, of course, this will have to wait!!

Then my Q-snap arrived and of course I had to try it out, so I pulled out a pillow case to do a test run. Now I totally understand what all the fuss is about Q-snap!!! I love it!!!! Don't think I'll go back to the other frames ever again~

And finally, I hooked up my sewing machine to fix a pair of pants. Since the machine is already out, I decided to work on a quilt that I've started last July!! I did managed to sew all the pieces together so now I could temporally store my machine away and work on the hand quilting - that is when I feel like it, of course, and it might have to wait again for another few months..... ;-)

So that is what I've been up to lately~ A little bit of this and a little bit of that, but no finishes yet..... Some day, some day I'll have a finished product to show...... I hope.....
