Stitching and Quilting~

I’ve finished stitching Two Shall Be As One a couple days ago, and to not totally spoil the surprise, here is a sneak peak of the finished piece~

Pattern: Lizzie Kate “Two Shall Be As One”
Thread: DMC cotton floss
Fabric: 32ct Belfast linen in color “Flay”
Size: 9.5" x 5.5"
Beginning Date: 06-24-2009
Completion Date: 07-29-2009

Instead of using the charms it called for in the chart, I used a heart shape button between the names. I think the whole thing turned out nicely!! I also like the little flowers a lot!! I think those colors are just perfect!! All I need to do now is finding a perfect frame for it and then sending it off to the love birds~

I’ve also worked on a quilt that I’ve started like a year ago!!!!! It has been sitting in the bottom of my chest for quite a while, and thanks for Phoebe, it finally is seeing some light again~ Phoebe has been teaching me how to hand quilt it. Although my stitches are not perfect, I’m starting to get the hang of it!!! I’ve only quilted four blocks so far, and I’m sure it will take me many more month to finish it, but at least I’m making some progress on this.

Now that I’ve learned how to hand quilt, I truly felt every quilt is such a treasure!!! You have to devote so much time onto it, and it takes a lot to finish a piece. Just take a look at Phoebe’s Baltimore Bunnies she finished the other day!! It is truly amazing!!!!

Well, that’s all for now. I’m be taking a vacation next week so I’ll be disappearing for a while. Now let’s see which new project should I take with me on the trip……

Have a great weekend, everyone~~

Almost There….

Last week went by like a flash, I didn’t have as much time to stitch as I wanted, but did make more progress on my Lizzie Kate piece. All I had to do is add the names and date and this will be done!!! (Now that I look at the photo, I think I missed the center of the two pink flowers on the right. Oops…) I think I will be able to wrap this up tonight!!!! Please excuse the wrinkles…… I promise it won’t look like that when I complete it!!! ;-)

Phoebe and I hit several quilt shops around here again the other day, and this time we discovered another cute one – The Country Loft!!!! It is totally adorable!!!! They not only have loads of great fabrics, the decor is also soooo CUTE!!! I wish I could bring everything home with me!!!!

Bunny Parade

Remember I visited the Fat Quarter Quilt Shop a couple weeks ago and brought a couple patterns home with me? Well, last Wednesday, Phoebe and I decided to do a stitching day and picked one of the patterns to work on. This is what came out of that afternoon~~

Pattern: Bareroots “Bunnies Candle Mat” Kit
Fabric: Wool Felt
Size: 7.5” in Diameter
Finishing Date: 07-12-2009
Isn’t this the cutest thing?! I fell in love with this design the moment I saw it!!! This actually was a kit and the background was originally black. But we saw a sample in the store that had the pink background and thought it was way cuter with pink, so we switched it out~~

This is the first time I tried making something like this, and there sure was a learning curve on stitching those whipstitch so don’t look too close!!! LOL Well, I figured this adds to the primitive feeling of this piece, right? ;-)

Thanks for Phoebe, she got all kinds of beads in her stash, so we got to add these beautiful seed beads to it. I love how the beadings make the whole piece pop!!!

It’s so fun to work on projects with a friend. Not only can we discuss about the colors, exchange opinions, and share ideas, this also motivates me to get things done in a timely matter!! I had a lot of fun making this with Phoebe, you should go check her work out!!! She finished hers in one afternoon, and it looks perfect!! So, Phoebe, when is our next stitching date? ;-)

Stitching Time~~

Hello everyone, how’s your weekend going? Mine? Pretty good I shall say, since I just met my deadline for work and am being stress free at the moment~~ That means more time stitching~~ YA~~~

Although I had a lot to do last week, I still managed to do some stitching. Here is my progress on Two shall be as One:

IMG_9695IMG_9696 copy

It’s not a whole lot but I’m loving this pattern. It is an easy and painless piece to stitch, perfect for stressful working days~~~ I also love this Flay colored Belfast linen!!! I think I’ll have to get more of this!!

Also, do you still remember my little house project? Well, I haven’t forgot about it. I did worked on it a little bit and it is starting to take shape. I hope I’ll be able to work on it more this week and MAYBE finish it at the end of July……

I’ve also done something extra this past Wednesday but I’m not quite done with it yet, so I’ll wait a little bit to show you that one~~

And now for my tomato update!! Thank you for all your suggestions on saving my tomato, and I did take Vonna’s advice of taking them all down and put them in a paper bag. And it worked!!! Although some of them are rather small, they do start to turn red!!! I’m so happy!!!

And now my other tomato plant is starting to ripe as well~~ We will have plenty to eat for the next few weeks~~~~

Fat Quarters Quilt Shop

Is it really July already?! Summer just always seems to be the busiest time of the year, and it would be over before I know it!!

In all these craziness, I did managed to visit a very cute quilt shop a little far away from my home – the Fat Quarters Quilt Shop. It was totally worth the drive, though!!! I’m not a quilter but I still fell in love with the cutest decor and all the colorful fabrics in the store. All the quilts in the store are just so fascinating, so I even went home with two little patterns!! Just couldn’t resist!!!

Since I was in the area, I decided to go to a cross stitch shop nearby and see if I can find a suiting fabric for my Mary Wigham sampler. And I did!!!! They had this 28ct light mocha cashel linen that is just perfect for this project~~ I think The HDF thread colors will look beautiful on this fabric!! Everything is set, now if I can only find the time to start this project……

With a work deadline next week and going away for this weekend, I have been playing catching up and didn’t got a chance to stitch this whole week now. I just want to get the work stuff over with so I can do more stitching and maybe start my Mary Wigham sampler.

Well, I better get back to work now!! Have a great July 4th weekend everyone!!!
