After Melissa finished her Friendship Sampler from Birds of a Feather, she decided to sent it on a tour. I was very luck to be the third stop on the list, and even more fortunate to be the first one stitching it. I decided to use the Sampler Threads it called for and 40ct vintage light examplar from Lakeside Linens. I just love the color combination!!!
Now I actually have a question for all of you since this is my first time stitching on 40ct linens. Do you use one thread or two threads when you go over 2? I tried using 2 threads but felt that it was kind of difficult to pull my needle through. Maybe I need a smaller needle??
While I was ordering the threads and fabric for the Friendship Sampler, I couldn’t resist to add a little bit to my stash… Since I was already paying for shipping, a little bit more won’t hurt, right? ;-)
I am also very proud to say that I have been keeping up with my 12 stitches a day plan on the Mary Wigham Sampler. I’ve made quite a bit progress in 2 weeks!!! It’s so much fun seeing each motif coming to life~
Last week my DH told me the Maple Trees on his campus have started to turn red so he invited me for a lunch date so he could show it to me. It truly was very beautiful!!!! Just look at these brilliant fall colors!!!! I can’t resist but sharing it with you~
Thank you for visiting~~~ Have a wonderful week!!!
Beautiful color combinations!! Theresa. Stitch one thread over 2 on 40ct linen is neater, but does your chart state work over 2 threads? I can't wait to see you start stitching on it. :) Your Mary Wigham Sampler is gorgeous! Like you, I always add a little bit more stash since I paying the shipping cost. Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteI have never used 2 strands on 40 ct... I always use one strand of silk OR cotton on 40 ct with a size 28 needle and the coverage has always been good. I LOVE the threads with that linen! Wow--total eye candy!
ReplyDeleteYour MW is coming along so nicely--looks great! I love the autumn pic, too.
Thats a great idea about the 12 stitches a day on Mary Wigham....Maybe I need to do 12 stitches a day on her and just go ahead and start it! :)
ReplyDeleteThe fall trees are so very pretty. Our leaves are all gone in Indiana and the trees are bare :(
Hello, what beautiful embroidery I discover your blog and I like very much your realizations! Beautiful work sincerely best regards of marylin FRANCE
ReplyDeleteTheresa, the colors in your new piece are fabulous! I've not yet stitched on 40 ct. fabric, so I'll be as interested as you in what your readers advise about number of threads. Beautiful leaves! I didn't realize the leaves changed colors in southern CA. That is why I love reading blogs from around the world--I learn so much :)
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful colours!
ReplyDeleteI have bot stitched on 40 count linen... So, I will wait for recomendations together with you.
I stitched my Seat to Shining Sea with one thread over two on 32 count and believe it or not it looks great! It looked bulky with two threads. Take a small corner of the fabric and just do some stitches with both one thread and two and see how it looks. It may be the thread, not the needle...that's what I found out anyway! :)
ReplyDeleteHey Theresa :)
ReplyDeleteI stitch on 40ct a good bit and I always use 1 strand :) That's why I like 40 ct so much-I love the way 1 fiber looks on the fabric :)
Can't wait to see your progress :)
I loved your pics today-everything was so colorful :)
Have a most wonderful day :)
the floss color are amazin, really pretty. I never stitch in 40 count is to small for my eyes...
ReplyDeletehave a great week!
Both your stitching will be great! They have beautiful colors.
ReplyDeleteUsually it's 1 strand on 40 count. Can't wait to see your start on the Friendship Sampler...I think I'm #8 or 9 on the list! lol Also your MW is looking great. Amazing what 12 stitches a day can produce!
ReplyDeleteAnd yea, I always order more to make up for the shipping cost! lol
Can't wait to see your new start..love the colors. Great new stash too!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of 12 stitches a day...may have to try that.
I'm so glad to see you have all the lovely floss and line for the friendship sampler. I look forward to seeing your pics.
ReplyDeleteYour strategy on MW is a good one and taking small steps is less overwhelming I think!
Have fun!
Great progress on Mary Wigham Sampler ;) Hoping to see your new start.
