I have won a giveaway from Sharon's blog a while ago, and since I was in the middle of my move and didn't know where I will be staying, I asked Sharon to hold the item for me until I know my new address. Today I found this in my mail, and was so happy to see something besides bills and ads. In fact, this package was my very first personal mail that came to my new address!! I was so excited to receive this and started to play with it right away~ Thank you Sharon for being so generous and wonderful for hosting a great series of giveaway!!!!
While I was on our family trip during Christmas, I discovered that almost all the historical sites we visited had cross stitch kits as souvenirs!!!! I was soooo excited and wanted to get them all if I could, but they are kind of pricey so I only got one at the Alamo and one at the U.S. Capital.
I've actually been to the Alamo many times, but never knew they had cross stitch kits there. Maybe it's because every time I was there, the gift shop was always packed with people so I never had a good look around. The last time I was there it was soooo cold that day, the whole place was almost all empty, and that's how I discovered this cute little piece~
Pattern: The Posy Collection " The Alamo Sampler"
Thread: DMC cotton floss
Fabric: 18ct Aida
Size: 3" x 2"
Completion Date: 01-23-2009
This is my first finish for 2009~ I've actually been working on this on my trips since it was the only cross stitch kit I had out. I had to use the aida fabric it provided but I would love to stitch this again in the near future~
This is a night shoot of the Alamo I took several years ago. I love this place and it will certainly remain be a big part of my Texas memories.
Hi, I just discovered your blog! I loved seeing the pictures of your move--it made me itch to travel somewhere--but not pulling a trailer. Now I want to see the white sands!
ReplyDeleteThe Alamo project looks great! The tile patterns look interesting.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on all of your wonderful goodies! Love the Alamo sampler, so cute!
ReplyDeleteWow! You took a beautiful pic of the Alamo!!
ReplyDeleteHey, you know we just moved from San Antonio to a town 45 mins. away! When I worked downtown, I used to walk to the Alamo during my lunch break.
Cute stitch!
I have been to Lincoln's Birthplace in Hodgensville, KY and picked up a cross-stitch there. I was surprised that they carried these as well. I am planning a trip to DC this summer and hope to add to my collection of kits.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
