Glass Jar Sewing Kit

Happy new year!!!!! Hope you all are enjoying your holiday!! We had a little Christmas gift exchange in our sewing class a couple days ago. Since it was kind of a last minute thing, it had to be something simple for me to finish on time. When I was searching online for ideas, those beautiful mason jar sewing kits caught my eye. I thought to myself, this I could manage!! So here is the final product~

Pattern: Kazuko Aoki Wildflower Garden - Christmas Rose
Thread: DMC Cotton Thread
Fabric: 32ct Belfest Linen in color Flax
Stitched Size: 3” x 3”
Completion Date: 12-22-2015

The pattern I chose for the pin cushion cap was a Hellebore flower, which is also commonly known as Christmas Rose,  perfect for this occasion won't you say?

Despite it's common name, Hellebores are not closely related to the rose family at all. The flowers have five "petals", which are actually sepals, surrounding a ring of small, cup like nectaries, which are actually the petals modified to hold nectar. This is how it looks like in real life. It is such a beautiful plant~

After finishing the pin cushion part, all I have to do is fill the jar with threads and buttons and all kinds of goodies~ This sewing kit would be perfect for anyone who like to work with needles!  I think I need one of this myself~~

Wishing you all a wonderful 2016!!!

I was quite worried for a while cause I forgot to give Nita my new address since I moved, and I’m really not sure if it would be transferred to my new address. Thankfully this package traveled safely all the way from New Zealand and eventually find its way to my mailbox. Thank you, Miche’le, I’ll treasure it forever!!!!

P is for Pincushion~

The pincushion I made for Jeanie for TTE exchange has arrived safely overseas, and I’m glad to hear that she seems to like it~ This is a freebie design from Brooke’s Book Publishing, and I absolutely loved how it turned out!!!! The beading on this is just so much fun~ I’m thinking I’ll have to make one of this again!!!!

Winter Fobs

Although it is spring right now, winter temperature is still lingering around here. So I guess it’s ok for me to do some winter finishes~ :-)

These winter stitches has been sitting in my to be finished pile for more then a year. I finally dug them out and finished them this past week.

Pattern: Heart in Hand “Winter Fobs”
Thread: DMC cotton floss & Sampler floss
Fabric: 32ct Belgium linen
Finishing Date: 04-30-2010

First up is this little pincushion. It is 2.75” x 3.25”. I like the simplicity of the design very much!! I screwed up a little bit on the closing, though… Must need more practice….

Second up is a pinkeep, it’s 2.875” x 3.25”. It was originally designed to be a fob, but I changed it into a pinkeep instead. I fell in love when I first saw this whimsical snowman!!! I actually had a hard time finishing this one up, because I didn’t know how to hide the ends of the cording. After several attempt, this is what I made peace with.

Finally, it’s a needle roll!! This is my first needle roll finish, and I have to say it is quite fun~ I love all the specialty stitches on this one!! It really made the whole thing special.

So this time it’s all about the pins. What should I grab out next to be finished up?

Wicked!!

When I first saw this design by PrimitiveBettys, I knew I wanted to stitch it!!! There is just something about it that keeps calling my name!!! Maybe I, too, wanted to be a little bit wicked from time to time~ So here it is~

IMG_3057 copyIMG_3077 copy

Pattern: PrimitiveBettys “Wicked
Thread: DMC cotton floss
Fabric: 28ct evenweave coffee dyed
Size: 3.25" x 2.25"
Completion Date: 10-28-2009

It is stitched one over one, on my very first try of coffee dyed fabric. Please excuse the not so perfect corners and cording around the edge. I keep telling myself these imperfections add to the primitive feel of the piece… ;-)

Happy Halloween~~~
