Revisiting Mary~

I haven’t visited Mary for sooooo long. It has been two years ago since I started this. Maybe it’s the over one stitching that intimidates me a little, every time I saw her laying in the WIP basket, I just keep skipping right by her. Then recently I saw a beautiful master piece that took my friend two years to finish. I was really motivated by it, and that’s when I picked up Mary again. Over one is still a bit intimidating, but I managed to finish two and a half motifs this past week, and starting to fall in love with this piece all over again~

This bird motif gave me quite a challenge, though. I must have miscounted somewhere cause when I was working on the bird on the right, something was just not right. I did not want to rip it all out so I just made it work. Hence, if you look closely, one bird is wider then the other, and the center doesn’t line up. But this did not bother me too much, since I learned from Mary, sometimes mistakes do happen, and it could be a beautiful thing.

So this is where I am at right now, a little more then 1/3 done. I hope I could ride on this motivation, and maybe, just maybe, I would be able to finish this one soon.

Thanks for visiting~~

Deck the Halls~

Another ornament finish~~ This one went to Yellowstone with me, but I did not work on it very much during the trip cause I was exhausted by all the walking while we were there~~

Pattern: Little House Needleworks "Deck the Halls"
Thread: DMC & Crescent Colors cotton floss
Fabric: 32ct  Belgium Linen
Stitch Size: 4” x 3.25”
Completion Date: 08-11-2011

I love the two characters on this design!!! And the candies on the tree is just adorable~~ Since my fabric was a bit darker then what it called for, I changed the green and red to a lighter and brighter shade. I’m pretty happy with the result~~

Only four more to go!!! I’m still debating on how to finish them…. So many ideas floating in my head!! Until next time, happy stitching~~

1726…

This is not a year, it is how many photos I took when we visited Yellowstone National Park a week ago. I know, I know, it’s a bit overkill, but every corner I turned there’s something amazing and I just had to take photos!!! Thank god for digitals, can you imagine how many rolls of films that would be?! Yellowstone is a place that words could not describe!!! So I’ll stop talking and let the photos speak of themselves!!!

The amazing hot springs~

A Little Frost in Summer~

Sorry for my absence. I’ve actually written this  post early last week, and just as I was about to post it, my internet was down. It turned out that there was an outage in our area so I did not have internet or cable for two days!!!! Now, I might survive without one or the other, but without both, it was a total nightmare!!! I have no idea when the service came back cause we were away for the weekend. Thankfully everything works now and I’m back online!!!!! This has happened twice in the past month. I’m seriously thinking about switching to another service provider!!!!

Now back to stitching, may I introduce to you – Mr. Frosty Flakes~~ He sure is adorable!!! I couldn’t get my hands off him!!

Pattern: Little House Needleworks "Frosty Flakes"
Thread: DMC & Crescent Colors cotton floss
Fabric: 35ct  WDW Linen Straw
Stitch Size: 3” x 3.25”
Completion Date: 07-25-2011

Originally the bird was in white, but I thought it looked kind of lost against all the white on Frosty. I remembered seeing someone changing it into red and loved it, so I did the same here. I think I just turned a Dove into a Cardinal!!

I also used a button for the star~~ Don’t you think Frosty is gazing right at it?

Last but not least, I would like to thank all of you for your lovely comments about my apron finish~~ I do love making gifts for friends!! Who knows what I will dip my hands into next time?!
