Checking in…

Just came back from a trip, DH had to attend a workshop in San Francisco area, so I tagged along. While he was in the meeting, I went craft shopping~ Actually I didn’t get anything cause I’m trying to keep my “no new stash until finishing my WIPs” promise… It wasn’t easy!! All the beautiful fabrics and charts were just calling my name!!! Nevertheless, it was really nice to be surrounded with fabrics and all sorts of crafts!!! Before I know it, I was already in one store for more then 2 hours!!!

I do have a question for all you crafty friends. I saw this quilt in one of the stores and fell in love completely. I do know that this pattern is American Jane’s Magic Carpet, but I’m wondering if anyone recognizes the fabric? I love this combination and was hoping to make one myself. So if anyone knows who the designer or company these fabric is from, please let me know. Thank you so much!!!

An Award and Awesome Show!!

Miss Jane has given me a Beautiful Blogger award!!! Thank you so much, Jane!!!! I am so honored!!

beautiful_blogger_award

So now I have to write 7 things about myself… This is not easy!!! I don’t know where to start since I am not a very exciting person (my DH would agree with that…). Let me think……

  1. I am a translator. I translate English books and articles into Chinese. My education background was not related to this at all. This is actually something I came across by accident.
  2. I love deserts!!!!! I would do anything for sweet treats!!!!!!
  3. I don’t like to cook. I would rather do the dishes then cook. Don’t get me wrong, I do know how to cook and do all the cooking around the house now, but cooking just doesn’t come natural to me…
  4. I don’t like spicy hot food. I don’t know why, but I’m just very sensitive to the heat. My mom often tease me say I’m not her child cause she loves spicy food!!!!
  5. I love to watch TV. Dramas, comedies, reality shows… you name it!!! In fact DH once told my sister I was very easy to please, just give me TV, internet and stitching then I can pretty much entertain myself, which is very true!!!
  6. I don’t really enjoy driving. I do know how to drive, but I just can’t feel relax when I drive. Good thing DH is a very good driver~~
  7. I’m kind of a shy person. I don’t know how to strike a conversation with strangers. But once I get to know someone, I would open up more.

I made it!!!! That wasn’t easy!!!! I hope you are not bored to death yet!!!

Now to pick only 7 person to pass this award on is also very difficult!!! There are so many beautiful blogs out there I enjoy so much!!! I’ve noticed many blogs that I often visit have already received this award, so I will pass it on to the ones I think haven’t receive this award yet. Here are seven beautiful blogs in no particular order:

As for the awesome show, DH and I went to see Cirque du Soleil’s Kooza. It was amazing!!!!! We were so nervous for the performers when they are swinging and jumping on the wire or spinning wheels that’s like 3 stories above ground. The clowns are super funny, too!!! We couldn’t stop laughing!!!

I am still super busy with my work right now, so not much progress on my stitching yet. Hopefully I will have something to show you next time. Thank you for visiting, my friends!!!

My First Quilt – Finished!!

After one and a half years, I finally finished my very first quilt!!!! I cant believe this little blanket took me so long… It did remained in my UFO pile for almost a year before it saw the light again. I was kind of going off a book and couldn’t understand what it was talking about, so I just put it away. I was very fortunate to have met Phoebe after moving to San Diego. It’s all because of her, that I could continue working on this quilt, and finally completing it.

Pattern: Something I made up myself
Fabric: Assorted fabrics found in store
Size: 41” x 56”
Beginning Date: 07-10-2008
Completion Date: 03-06-2010

This little blanket is not perfect. The lines are crooked, the spacing is uneven, and threads showing everywhere it shouldn’t be. But I’m still very proud of it, because it is my very first quilt, and I put a lot of work into it.

I think it turned out pretty nice in the end, just don’t look close…. ;-)

It is now sitting on my sofa, and will accompany me when I watch TV and stitch.

Now that I learned how to properly make a quilt, I feel like making another one. Just like Phoebe said, this is a path of no return!!!!

Thank you for all your warm comments on my Friendship Sampler. I’m currently working on my Mary Wigham again. The progress is slow, because work has picked up again. I might not have much to show for a while, but I will check in often. May you all have a wonderful day~~
