Friendship is a Plant…

Finally, I have finished stitching the Friendship Sampler!!!!! YA~~~ I had a blast stitching this one up, the cute designs and bright colors are so much fun~~

Pattern: Birds of a Feather “Friendship Sampler”
Thread: Recommended cotton floss
Fabric: 40ct vintage light examplar Lakeside Linens
Size: 9.5” x 7.5”
Beginning Date: 11-06-2009
Completion Date: 02-25-2010

I love everything about this – the flowers, the birdie, the butterfly, the girls, and the meaningful wording. But I did took out the two bugs that was suppose to be in there. I just didn’t like them and think it will be too crowded if I add them in anyway. So I sided with Melissa and left them out.

Sorry it took me this long, but the chart is on it’s way to Barbara’s today. I hope everyone on the tour will enjoy this as much as I did.

Speaking of friendship, I’ve received a belated birthday gift from Jennifer this week. She told me this gift is very ME and I have to totally agree with her. Just look at this adorable giraffe fabric!!!!!! It really put a smile on my face when I saw this. Thank you sooooo much, Jennifer!!!! I will have to think of a special project for this one~~

Now that I’ve finished the Friendship Sampler, I think I’ll finish up some small pieces before tackling a big project again. I’m in desperate need of a finished finish!!!!

I’m being a Couch Potato…

This week has been all about the Winter Olympics!!!

2010_Winter_Olympics_logo

I have been following the events since the fabulous opening ceremony, and was glued to the TV almost every night. I love Winter Olympics because I’m a huge figure skating fan, and it’s always fascinating to see All these other sports that demands physical and mental strength, usually under a very fast pace. It’s also very touching to learn all the stories about the athletes, all the injuries they’ve been through, all the obstacles they’ve overcome to reach this point.

So I have been watching, and stitching using my new stand of course, and while the athletes battled it out on the field, I have made great progress on my linen. I am now very close to being done with my Friendship Sampler, and it looks like I will be able to finish it before the Olympics come to an end. But I’m going to save the progress photo until I’m all done with it.

The weather has been REALLY nice here these days, we’re talking about 70 degree and sunny weathers!!! It felt like spring has arrived already!!!

My Hyacinths are blooming beautifully. I just love the blues and greens, and would like to share the spring action happening in my living room with you.

Now I’m going to do some work around the house before sitting back in front of the TV again!!! Happy stitching~~~

Be My Valentine~

Thank you for all your warm birthday greetings~~~~ I appreciate each and every one of them!!!

I bought myself a birthday gift last week. I have been thinking about getting a stitching stand for a while, and was hesitant to buy one because of the cost and not being able to see one in person. I don’t want to spend a whole lot of money and ended up with something I don’t like. Then I saw this stand in Michaels. It was only $50. With the 50% off coupon, it will only cost me $25 to get it. I thought to myself, I’ll give it a try. If I really don’t like it, it wouldn’t cost me that much anyway.

I really didn’t have high expectation for it. But to my very surprise, I absolutely LOVE it!!!!! It is very easy to use and adjust, and now I’m hooked~ If I have to pick on it, the only thing I would say is the clamp can be a bit difficult to release. It might be a result of my putting a towel between the clamp and my frame to protect my stitching. But I do not need to release the clamp very often, so it doesn’t bother me that much. So if you are looking for an inexpensive stand to start with, I would recommend this one~

With this stand, I’m learning to stitch with both hands. It’s not easy, I would often forget and find myself stitching with one hand again… I hope I’ll be able to get use to using both hands.

As for my stitching, I’m still working on the Friendship Sampler. I’m only done with the lower half of the border and will soon move onto the final block. At this rate, I just might be able to finish it before February ends~

I also received a surprise present yesterday. When I saw the package, I thought it was the one I was expecting from my sister.  But when I opened it, these cute little things popped out of the box!!! It is a Valentine gift from my DH!!! I was super surprised, cause he is usually not a romantic~ Aren’t these hugging giraffes cute? I love it!!!!

It seemed that everywhere besides CA has been hit by big snow storms, one after another, especially in the East coast. I hope everyone is staying safe and warm.

I know I’m a bit early, but I would like to wish you all a very happy Valentine’s Day~~~

p.s.: I just realized this is my 100th post!!!!

Thirty Something and Fabulous!!!

birthday-cake

Today is my birthday. I’m thirty something and fabulous. I don’t have much to complain, I’m grateful to have a husband that makes me laugh everyday, a family that I love very much, and friendships that will last forever.

The past year was a bit miserable for me. So this year, I’m going to change it.

I always believed as long as you are happy, it does not matter if you are single or married or have one or two or three kids. The important thing is, you have to be happy. I don’t know if I’ll be happier, but I AM happy with just the way we are right now, and that is the most important thing. We are doing the best that we can, and the rest we will put it in God’s hands.

I am thirty something, and I am fabulous!!!

Seeing Spring on My Canvas~

And now we enter February, my favorite month of a year~ Why? Because its my birthday month, of course!!! In fact, my birthday is in two days~ I’m already thinking about the delicious cake I’ll get!! Yummy~~~~~

As for my stitching progress, I’ve finished the upper half of the Friendship Sampler, and I’m loving it!!! Seeing each flower coming to life was so much fun~~~ I wasn’t sure about the colors at first, but they really work well together, and now I can’t get enough of them!! I just want to keep on stitching~~

I don’t want to bore you with my Friendship Sampler progress, but this is the only thing that I am working on right now. I really want to get it done, cause I know there is a long line behind me waiting for its arrival. I’m determined to get it done!!!!!

So that’s it for now!!! What’s happening on your canvas?
