Baby . Giraffe

It was a couple month late, but I finally sent out my package to my friend this morning~~ It took me a while to search for the perfect design. I knew she painted the nursery blue and green with an animal theme so I want something to complement that. I think this one will work!!! Plus, who could resist a cute giraffe?! ;-)

I really like the leaf and drop of water above the giraffe, I think it added a little humor and the designer is a genius to think of that!!!! Although there were a sea of blue to stitch, I really liked how it turned out. I hope my friend will like it, too~~

As for my baby giraffe, I’ve finally finished stitching the background and is almost done with the whole thing. I’ll save the photo for now and show it to you when I am finished with it. Speaking of giraffes, I’ve seemed to become the giraffe lady – and I don’t mind a bit!!!! Thanks for all of you who thought of me when seeing a giraffe!!!!

Phoebe and I visited the San Diego Quilt Show last week. It was amazing to see all those spectacular quilts!! I think this was my second time visiting a quilt show. I have to say the first time I went I had no idea what I am looking for on a quilt expect for it looked very pretty. Since I have learned to quilt this year, I had so much more respect in all these pieces and appreciated tremendously of all the hard work the quilters put in each of them.

There were so many wonderful quilts at the show. Some were familiar patterns with their own twist…

Some were a little bit different…

But look closer at all of them, their details were just amazing!!!

These were the winners of Quilt Viewers Choice, and I can totally understand why!!! Just look at the impeccable work of these entries!!! Did you see the size of those patches on “Nancy’s Quilt Museum” (top center)?! No wonder it won first place!!

The following were some of my personal favorites. There was one quilter who used all giraffe fabrics on her quilt, and of course I was drawn to it right away!!! I love the Starry Night one because the quilting was just amazing, and it was all done by hand!!! And who could resist bunnies and pumpkins?! They were just too cute~~~

No matter how big or small the quilt is, it is unique by itself and a true treasure. Maybe someday when I look at a beautiful piece of quilt, I would be able to say : I think I can do that, too!!!!

I’m Seeing the Blues…

… on my baby giraffe piece. I actually had the thought of not stitching the blue background but it just doesn’t look right without it. So that was what I’ve been doing all weekend, stitching blues. It was a nice project for when I am watching TV, but just as I thought I might have accomplished a lot, it seemed like I haven’t even got half of it done. There is so much more to fill……

So, in order to change the scene a little bit, I decided to switch to finishing Schoolgirl Lessons, since I finally picked up the threads I needed last week. I was so happy and just cruising along on it, until I discovered I was totally off!!!! Darn!! Not again!!!! I was determined to finish this so I ripped out the mistakes and started again. Luckily there weren’t much left to do on it, so here is my finished Schoolgirl Lessons~

Despite all the troubles it gave me, I still like this very much~ Reading, writing and stitching are the things I wish I could do all day~~ These are the things that makes me happy~~ By the way, just finished reading Tracy Chevalier’s “The Lady and the Unicorn”. Love it!!! Couldn’t put it down until I’ve finished it. Please excuse the wrinkles. I’ve yet to iron it out and frame it, but really wanted to show it to you first~

So what are your simple pleasures in life?

As on my stitching front, I didn’t make too much progress this past week. I only managed to finished the giraffe part of my baby gift. I have to say he is really cute~~~ It took me a while to get going on this piece, but once I saw his cute face taking place I can’t seem to put it down!! I do hope I can finish it this week…

And The Prize Goes To……

#28 – Natalija!!!!!! (Selected by Random.org)

A big thank you to everyone who visited my little corner and all the warm comments I’ve received!!! I’m glad that so many of you liked what I have made~~~

Now for my stitching update~~ A dear friend of mine just had a baby boy and I wanted to make something special for them. After searching high and low for a suitable chart, I couldn’t find anything that I love 100%, so I decided to turn a picture that I love very much into a chart, and revised it a little bit to personalize it. The original picture is a poster designed by Yuko Lau, who designs the cutest children posters!!! I thought this one would be perfect for my friend cause she painted the baby’s room blue and green with a jungle theme~~ Can you tell what kind of animal I am stitching? ;-)

When I went swimming the other day, I saw this plant popping out the planter by the pool, and was so surprised!!! Maybe someone had left a piece of strawberry in the planter and it just grew out all by itself!! How cute~~~

Speaking of swimming, I think I need to jump into the pool to cool down again. It is soooo hot here recently!!!
