Stitch-A-Cross

I have been checking out all the needlework shops around my area lately, and was somewhat disappointed to find out the ones that are closest to my home don’t carry any cross stitch items…… Then I stumbled across Stitch-A-Cross’s website, and saw they are having a sale during March!! With only a few days left in this month, I paid it a visit last Friday~

Stitch a cross 2

And here is what I added to my stash!!!!! A chart from Shepherd’s Bush, another from Told-in-a-Garden, 2 charts from the Cricket Collection, and 3 cuts of Belfast Linen~~

Stitch a cross 4

These charts are just too cute to resist!! Now I wish I have an extra pair of hands cause I’m such a slow stitcher, and I REALLY feel like working on these like RIGHT AWAY!!! LOL

Well, I hope you all will be able to have mush more stitching done then I do!! Have a wonderful week~~~

Pillowcases

I was inspired by Staci’s pillowcases a while back and decided to give them a try~~ I picked a simple design cause I’ve never done this before, and although the original colors are beautiful, I used all red threads instead because I think they look so pretty on Staci’s works~ Plus I wanted to maybe make this a wedding gift, and red is the color for weddings in Chinese culture, so I thought it would be a good fit~

Thread: DMC cotton floss
Completion Date: 03-15-2009

I think they turned out ok expect of my satin stitch!!!! The leaves are more forgiving but It is so difficult to stitch a perfect circle!!!! Mine looked more like lemons…… LOL I’ll need more practice for sure~~ This little design is so cute and so fun to do, I might keep this pair for myself and make another pair for my friend~

I’m feeling a bit heavy headed today, I hope I didn’t catch the cold that is floating around…… I’m going to make myself a nice pot of tea and do a bit of stitching~ Maybe that will help fight off this cold~

Look What I Got!!!!

A piece of mail came all the way from Portugal yesterday and it's my biscornu exchange from Ana Luisa~~ I was so overwhelmed with joy when I opened it!!!! Just look at all the goodies she included in the package!!!!!

Ana made a giraffe biscornu just for me!!!!!!!!! Totally up my alley!!!! Isn't he the cutest?! I always wanted a stitched giraffe but there are not a lot of giraffe designs out there, so I can't tell you how happy I am when I received this!!!! Thank you so much, Ana~~~

Thank you all for your kind compliments on my biscornu~~ They really boosted my confidence on my finishes, and just like Emily said, biscornus really aren't hard to do at all!!! They just look complicated....

A Biscornu and an Award

I heard that Rochelle has received the biscornu I made for her for the Tiny Treasures Exchange, and I'm so glad she likes it~~ After I mailed it out I remembered that I forgot to put down an e-mail or my blogger page in the note, and I hope I didn't cause Rochelle too much trouble to find a way to contact me...

I choose a traditional Bulgarian motif I found on the web to stitch for the biscornu, and choose blue and greed threads for the main part cause I know that's Rochelle's favorite colors, and added a punch of orange for the flowers. I also stitched our initials and year on the back. It took me a while to find a perfect button, but I think this one really goes with the whole design~

Pattern: Traditional Bulgarian Motif
Thread: DMC cotton floss
Fabric: 28ct antique white evenweave fabric
Size: 2.5" x 2.5"
Finishing Date: 03-05-2009

This is my very first try making a biscornu, and I have to say I was a bit nervous when I first started it. But at the end it was so much fun and I was really happy when I saw the finished product~ Even my DH Dr. Sam was quite impressed with this little one!! I can see many more biscornus to come in the future~

Winter Fobs

Although I hit a little bump on the road, I got Winter Fobs finished this past weekend!!! I think I finally got the closed herringbone stitch right, and despite it gave me some trouble, it turned out quite nice~~

Looking at the photos I just realized that I forgot to stitched the two snowflakes by the SNOW word!!! Oops...... I guess it will just have to wait until I do the finishes~ That will have to wait, cause I feel like stitching something springy right now!!! ;-)

What I've been up to.....

So what have I been doing since I've finished Heart and Hand? I've been stitching, really!!

First I've worked on the Winter Fobs and finished stitching these two little pieces~~ I just love the little snowman!! Don't you think he is cute?

Pattern: Heart in Hand "Winter Fobs - Snowman & Little Blue House Fob"
Thread: DMC cotton floss & Sampler floss
Fabric: 32ct Belgium linen
Size: 3" x 1.5" & 1.5" x 1.25"
Completion Date: 02-11-2009

Then I've continued stitching the needle roll piece of this set and I was on a roll until I hit one of the borders...... It required closed herringbone stitch and I wasn't quite sure I'm doing it right.....

After going half way through, ripping it out, and trying once again, I finally decided to just put it aside for a moment and switch to stitching my biscornu piece for the Tiny Treasures Exchange group. This is my very first try on a biscornu and I want to make sure I could finish on time to mail it out. It is going well so far, I just need to finish it up!! I can't share a photo just yet, of course, this will have to wait!!

Then my Q-snap arrived and of course I had to try it out, so I pulled out a pillow case to do a test run. Now I totally understand what all the fuss is about Q-snap!!! I love it!!!! Don't think I'll go back to the other frames ever again~

And finally, I hooked up my sewing machine to fix a pair of pants. Since the machine is already out, I decided to work on a quilt that I've started last July!! I did managed to sew all the pieces together so now I could temporally store my machine away and work on the hand quilting - that is when I feel like it, of course, and it might have to wait again for another few months..... ;-)

So that is what I've been up to lately~ A little bit of this and a little bit of that, but no finishes yet..... Some day, some day I'll have a finished product to show...... I hope.....
